At Western Heritage Lutheran Academy, we offer a vibrant range of activities to enrich our students’ experiences. From sports and drama to clubs like Strategy Club and Anime Club, there’s something for every child.
Activities at WHLA
Our students are strongly encouraged to participate in any extracurricular activities that interest them. However, as we are such a small school, this sometimes requires our students to play on the teams of other high schools. We have students who play for Lander Valley High School basketball, Riverton High School Soccer, and Wind River High School football. We also have our own indoor and outdoor track team!

Poetry Out Loud Recitation Contest
Every year WHLA participates in the Poetry Out Loud national recitation contest. We send our school’s top scoring student to Cheyenne to compete in the state recitation contest.
Strategy Club
Since 2013 WHLA has had an active strategy club, members of the club get together and play strategic board games, card games, and outdoor activities.
Anime Club
Since 2015 WHLA has had an active Anime Club. The club watches and discusses anime that has been chosen by the members and approved by the principle.
Drama
In 2016 our students started participating in drama and theater. The first play our students did was an adapted version of The Masque of the Red Death. The second play was student-written, named The Lion, the Witch and the Dragon.
